"Ethno-cyberpunk diva. (Her) voice is a thing of wonder, ranging from lilting folkiness to speaking-in-tongues wildness." (Richard Sanderson - programme notes)
Since the 1980s Viv Corringham has been singing a wide range of music: improvised, Greek Rembetika, New Wave, Eastern Mediterranean, new music and spontaneously created songs. She has also been recording soundscapes in the many places her sound and installation workhas taken her. These various elements find their way into her live performances.
She works in several established groups, in many ad-hoc groupings and also as a soloist. She mostly uses electronic processing and soundscape recordings but sometimes sings entirely acoustic. She also composes recipe-like text scores for voices and instruments that have been performed by experimental groups and choirs.

Greek Rembetika music re-located/re-configured into electronic soundscapes. Corringham and Cooper are long time collaborators. Their version of Rembetika is an attempt to marry traditional acoustic with contemporary digital culture whilst maintaining the improvisational and passionate expressive elements usually associated with the former.
"Kate Bush, Dead Can Dance, Lisa Gerrard, Diamanda Galas, Kurt Schwitters, Jack Kerouac, Luciano Berio, Laurie Anderson, Moondog, John Cage, Glenn Gould, Fortunato Depero, Sheila Chandra.
Viv Corringham is all of these and not these.
She deconstructs language with such lightness that her compositions become delicate paintings of everyday life…Her voice resonates with Celtic melancholy while climbing onomatopoeic pathways...Hers is vibrant material: immediate, transparent and poetic."
(Altrevelocita, Michelle Davis)
A slowly evolving music project featuring This Heat drummer/lynchpin Charles Hayward, Pinski Zoo and Crackle bassist Nick Doyne-Ditmas and the words, voice and textures of avant-vocalist Viv Corringham, whose music walks a tightrope between song, improvisation and sound-as-sound. “We are making new song forms based on live improvisation. Every song is created in the actual moment of performance.” [V.C] MPT perform regularly at Café Oto and other London venues.
